About Us
February 22, 2008
For several years I have worked in senior care. As an assistant director of an Alzheimer’s community as well as the admissions coordinator for a multi-level community and an in- home care company, I always felt very blessed to be able to help families create good memories of what could sometimes be very challenging times.
After the recent passing of my sweet husband, his photos became so very important to me. Not the posed ones, but the simple candid shots, the ones that captured the very essence of who he was, his quirky little grin, the laugh lines that framed the twinkle of his eyes. As time goes by the detail in my “mind memories” tend to fade. That’s when I pull out the photos and it all comes rushing back, covering me like a warm fuzzy blanket.
Time passes quickly. I truly believe that capturing the memories NOW is so very important. After all when it is all said and done, it is our memories we’ll treasure.
About Melodee
I am a wife and a mom of two crazy kids. Before kids, I spent several years working in a retirement community, with part of that time being spent in the secured living unit, for those with dementia. My grandfather lived with dementia for 12 years, and I have a real desire to work with families who are facing the challenges that caring for someone with dementia can bring. That desire is what has motivated me to bring two of the things that are so close to my heart together.
One look at the images taken with the digital SLR cameras and I was sucked in…Enticed by the amazing possibilities that existed outside the small world of my point and shoot. From the moment I first peered through the lens of my camera, I was hooked. Photography is almost magical. It freezes a moment in time…it allows you to hold a memory in your hand. That is what draws me back to my camera every day. It’s not just taking pictures…it’s capturing memories. That is my wish…to use photography to help other families preserve memories that they will treasure.
